Top Four Universities in Australia for International Students

Those Singaporean students who have chosen to study overseas in Australia will need a little information about the university options available in the country. University of Sydney

It is one of the oldest and top universities in Australia (established in 1851). At present, 42,000 students attend the university, representing around 134 nations. About 280 overseas exchange programs are in place with more than 30 countries.

Five Australian prime ministers studied at the University of Sydney, including Edmund Barton, who won the first-ever federal election in Australia.

Monash University

Named after engineer and military leader Sir John Monash, Monash University was the first Australian university to be named after a person instead of a place.

Based in Melbourne, the university has around 44,000 undergraduates and 20,000 graduate students. Monash also has a grad school in Jiangsu Province, China, a research school in Mumbai, India and research and teaching centre in the Italian town of Prato.

Famous alumni include Booker Prize-winning novelist Peter Carey, musician Nick Cave, and playwright David Williamson.

University of Melbourne

Established in 1853, the University is the second oldest university in Australia. It’s home to 6,500 staff members and 42,000 students and has more than 280,000 alumni across the globe.

Around 12,000 overseas students are enroled at the university, and if you want to join them, you will be joining students from 130 different countries.

Noble prizewinner Peter Doherty and fellows of the Royal Society David Solomon and David Boger teach or research at the University of Melbourne.
